Situated in a cul de sac in Johnsonville, this cosy house is welcoming for a family who have just arrived in Wellington or even in New Zealand. We heard there was a real need for fully furnished accommodation for new arrivals, so this house is set-up for you to move in - furniture, appliances, cutlery, crockery - even hangers for your clothes and detergent for the first washes.
The kitchen was renewed only a couple of years ago. Plenty of cupboards.
The dining room opens on to both the kitchen and the living room which in turn opens on to the sunroom-front entrance.
All bedrooms have extensive build-in cupboards, shelves and drawers as well as comfortable beds. They are furnished to suit the incoming tenants - king, queen, single beds and cot are available.
The bathroom has been adapted to facilitate a separate shower as well as the bath. The toilet is in a separate room.
The house is well insulated, has solar water heating, and is kept cosy by a wood burning fireplace and an electric heat pump.

Facilities
Annaday Chalet has all the basic requirements in a very compact arrangement.
Step through the front door into the living area containing two settees (which fold out to beds if needed) and a kitchen corner with adjacent dining table and 6 chairs/2 stools. All essential cooking, serving and eating equipment. Small fridge.
Also at lower level: toilet/laundry room (no washing machine) and a shower/storage room and the double bedroom.
Upstairs there is another sleeping area - this with a double and a single bed and two small squab mattresses for sleeping on the floor, (anywhere in the house). Provisions include sufficient duvets, padded quilts and blankets for all the possible permutations of sleeping arrangements.
Location
The very name of Mount Ruapehu conjures up a picture of a giant mountain with a superb covering of snow in the winter. Three skifields, with the predominant two being Turoa and Whakapapa.
Ohakune is the picturesque town at the foot of the mountain closest to Turoa. The town services the skifield including visitors, employees and the essential tradesmen to keep everything functioning well. There's a wide range of shopping, including supermarket and hardware, restaurants, hotels, motels, laundromat, and ski and snowboard hire, sales and service.
Ohakune and the Ruapehu district are not just about snow sports. The National Park that encompasses this mountain is also a mecca for tramping, hiking, and climbing with a network of tracks and huts. There are native and exotic forests, fauna and flora to enjoy.
There is also a good golf course, horse riding, four wheel drive adventures, river and lake fishing and within an hour's drive, hot mineral pools for soaking or swimming.
This is also almost midway between Auckland and Wellington so can be a good transit stop to break the long journey.
